Dear Folk

Not trying to cause trouble now ... BUT ...

Last night I went to the Freeland Opps site and registered. All went 100%. I read a few posts, explored the site a bit, then logged out.

A few minutes later, I logged in again - something I always do when joining something new - to check that all passwords etc were working. No problem. Logged out, had supper, watched a TV movie, then before bed logged in again. Fine.

Today when I tried to log in, I was immediately locked out. What came up was that I was locked out for 23:xx:xx

Not sure if that was supposed to be 23 hours or 23 minutes.

Anyway, I sent a message to them and ... full credit ... got a prompt reply.

They said if you log in incorrectly 5 times in a row, you are locked out for 2 minutes. Well, I only tried once, but as I say the message came up saying "23:" ..... (minutes? hours?)

Right ... I waited a full 2 hours before trying again. This time, up popped the message that I was locked out for 08:33:00 (8 minutes? 8 hours?)

No - I did NOT trype in my passphrse or membership number incorrectly. I'm not a newbie to this game, and remember, I logged in perfectly twice last night.

With such a sophisticated site, this should not happen.

Just thought I'd report this - and has anybody else had any problems?

Well it sounds like a script glitch to me.
Doesn't really seem the thing to panic over. If you haven't already, maybe you should post this on their message board. They have always seemed to be very responsive.

Dr. Mac,

First, we apologize for your login problems.

The explanation of the lock out feature is correct. If an account is logged incorrectly into four times in a row the fifth time they will be locked out for two minutes. After four more failed attempts of a two minute lock out per attempt they will be locked out for fifteen minutes per attempt there after until logged in correctly.

The error was an oversight on the server time the lock out times (two, fifteen minutes) were correct just reflected incorrectly to the users. But this oversight has been corrected.

We went and reset both lock outs on the account that were locked out. So they could start again.

If you get to the error of lock out you have entered something incorrect five times. My suggestion at this point would make sure everything is correct or go to lost PassKeys.

Thank you Neil

Despite being corrected, I still had problems logging in TWO HOURS after I received an e-mail from one of your staff saying that it would all be corrected after 30 minutes.

I got to a page saying my login was invalid, and I was asked to enter my passphrase again. This I did, and used EXCATLY THE SAME passphrase - and this time it DID accept it !

Strange!

Anyway, I have now changed both my primary and secondary passphrases. I will try to log in again later on tonight to make sure it is working correctly. I am sure is/was a glitch. Hopefully, all will be fine from now on.

Thank you again for your kind reply.

Neil,

Is it possible to modify the login process so that I can use Password Safe to drag and drop my information? I use this as a security measure, no keystrokes whatsoever and information is stored on flash memory stick.

Thanks,

pp

Yes it is possible to modify the login process and it is being done. Too many variances in the settings on individual computers to properly utilize all of the features that flash allows. We are working on it now. We will still require the immediate 'click' on access account to reveal a new HTML page that allows password programs to interface, drag and drop etc. This should alleviate the sign up challenge for those that have them.

I want everyone that reads this thread to understand something. It is impossible for our password program to work for some of the people all of the time and some of the people some of the time. It is simply a password program that passes through a proven encryption process. It either works or it does not. And It does work. Those that are getting passwords to work sometimes are sometimes properly working it. It is not a problem on our part.

There are some flash complications because of individual computer deficiencies such as antiquated versions, and security settings that are causing challenges. So we are making changes to an old school technology interface. As well, we are going to allow the disengaging of flash once inside our site. This will allow slower connections a faster surf once inside.

No security challenge is posed by offering these solutions, therefore we are happy to make the concessions.

The log-in process for Freeland is getting crazy! I have been unable to log-in despite several tries over the past two days.

They say you are allowed 5 log-in attempts - then if you still "get it wrong" ... you are blocked for 2 minutes.

Well, what is happening is that the 2 minute block is coming up as soon as I click on the final log-in button. At other times, up pops the message "Invalid Login"

In other words, there is NOT the "5 tries before you are blocked" in operation. And in any case, I certainly have NOT been "getting it wrong"

You have also posted above that not everybody will be able to log in all of the time!!!! Sometimes it will work - sometimes it won't.

Boy oh! boy! That REALLY makes me feel a whole lot better about depositing money with you !!! This week I can log-in fine and deposit my money. Next week when I want to make a withdrawal ... then ... sorry mate ... we did say that sometimes it will work, and sometimes it won't! It's just tough luck !!!

I notice in the post above some of us are being blamed for having "deficient computers" and "antiquated" software.

What a great job of public relations that is!

I would hardly call Windows XP and the latest version of Internet Explorer IE 6 SP1 "antiquated" !!!

Where have I heard this before recently? When there are problems, then it's all OUR fault !!! Hmmm! Sound like anybody you know ?

Well, my "antiquated software" seems to get me into e-Gold, Evocash ... and every other secure web-site I visit ...

Although I fully agree with the wise decision to allow people to disable "Flash" - the problem with that is that you first have to get into the site before you can disable it! There's not much point in doing that if the log-in process itself is faulty, and you can't get in.

I sincerely hope Freeland will stop blaming those of us who have "antiquated" software (like the very latest versions of Windows and IE) and will regard this log-in problem as a top priority.

Dr. Mac.

No one else is having your challenge unless their, no, THEIR, system settings are causing it or they use the wrong information.

It really is that simple.

So, if you want to use our program, I suggest you wait until we complete a more old school style access page for you, which we are working on.

But to continue to listen to you beat up on a process that works for over 1500 others ......

If you do not believe what we are telling you about ....'Code either works or it doesn't' ...Our code cannot re-write itself just to prevent you from accessing...then ask someone else and they can clarify.

We are creating, for those that have flash issues, an 'old school' entry to accounts. This change will allow everyone that is having FLASH issues to access.

But understand...the site works flawlessly...the challenge is not on our end.

Give us the chance to make it easier on you and we will.

If you are not willing to give us the chance to correct YOUR challenges....Then we would request that you move on.

Dr. Mac...try again as we unlocked the three account that had been locked up.

If you would just try this...verify the PassKey and Account Number and then copy and paste it.

You should have no challenge.

Dr. Mac. and any others

If your PassKey had a Backslash in it (\)

Then I accept my humble pie. I will consume it immediately following finishing the crow that is stuck in my throat.

The backslashes were not being recognized and causing an entry challenge.

I apologize for placing blame on others if this character was causing a challenge.

I sincerely hope that will be a lesson to ALL of you at Freeland Opps.

Before getting on your high horse and getting so arrogant next time - accept that not ALL your punters are stupid idiots - and sometimes they do NOT make mistakes.

Indeed - I got a friend of mine to register just so I could get into the site and have a look around. What I found was that one of the most active threads on the forum is ... yes ... several people with log-in problems! And those are only the one's that somehow did manage to log in.

And yes ... one of the main problems IS that backward slash - which was part of my passphrase.

So, it IS possible for the public - what with their computer "deficencies" and their "antiquated" software to be right - and for the fault to be on YOUR end!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

O.K.

Rant over.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I fully accept your apology - it does take a man with balls (even if you are a woman!) to make one.

From now on, let's make sure we all look carefully in oyr own backyard to see if, in fact, the problem may be on our side.

And from now on, let's also remain mature friends.
