All e-gold transactions to be taxed at 33.3%
Hardware wongle required for e-gold use

Staff Reporters

WASHINGTON: The government has announced heavy luxury taxes on all e-gold transactions. Effective immediately, e-gold has been instructed to immediately comply with the regulation and tax all transactions at the rate of 33.3% by deducting the tax from e-gold accounts and forwarding it to the IRS

The Digital Gold Association (DGA) immediately spoke out and said that they are not overly concerned as the new regulation only effects e-gold. They have advised users to simply use e-bullion, Money Bookers and Asian Pay to avoid the tax

Also in late developments Gold Technologies Inc has announced that they have launched an anti wongle that un-does any taxes applied to e-gold accounts. They say that the law doesn't cover anti wongling. Anti wongles can be purchased for just $19.95 and can be added to a different serial port as the wongle

New hardware required

The new e-gold tax will require all e-gold users in to install a hardware wongle from the IRS and FBI. The wongles can be picked up free of charge from any IRS or FBI offices starting today. Without the wongle, e-gold users will be disconnected after 5 minutes of use and unable to access e-gold from 11.59pm tonight.

A wongle is a small hardware device that connects to a computers serial port. When the tax wongle is not present, the software runs in a restricted mode or refuses to run. Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems are likely to hang without the tax wongle installed. It was developed jointly by the IRS, FBI and CIA
