So those monthly payout programs and or plans have always lasted longer?
From FLO, 12DP (about 20 days), offshoreclub, to the present swisscash (problem?), legisi, amityfund, and many more other programs like egeneration, opentrade, a3union etc.
Such programs could always pay out for 6 months.
So if you are in at the right time, and with the right amount, you could always earn some good profits.
Anything common in such programs?

Salty,
Think like the admin of a program, and you'll be able to determine for yourself what kind of payout schedule would be easier for you to maintain.

Don't forget that the monthly programs in general pay lower than the weekly or daily ones. Sometimes 6 months is not enough to get out in profit. Sometimes they don't live 6 months. Just because it's monthly, does not mean it's better. But usually the HYIP-ers tend to believe more in the monthly programs (because they seem more realistic). Most of the major scams were paying monthly.

It's all part of the packaging by the scammers to keep with the preferences of the spenders. Some programs offer Plans for the day/week or month, some increasing ROI over length of plan as if, they have your money longer, they'll pay a higher return. Some want to see something everyday and in reality, a little return every day brings one closer to profit, then waiting a month for a higher profit, which may not happen. It's a game for all to play.
