What about HYIPs backed by new members' spends?

The idea:
What if a program was backed 50% by new spends, and 50% by real investments?

The result:
Higher than normal rates of returns, but not unbelievable. Something in the 8 to 15% per week range. These returns should be sustainable far longer than a pure game. Something like 6 months to a year.

How it works:
The investments would be shown on the members area of the website. This way the program would be "transparent," like www.cashdomain.org

I think this could be very profitable for those who join when the program is about 6 months old or less.

It could also be a long term program that could last well over a year if the investments are picked carefully without much losers.

Here's what should happen:
Since it is 50% game, the program will reach a point when there is not enough "game" money to pay off the earlier spends. This is when the invesments of the program will take over.

If from the very start, the investments are also compounded, then it should be enough to transition the program from 50% hyip to 100% hyip, backed by investments. Of course during this transition, the rates would be a little lower. But it should only be temporary.

What do you all think of this?

I guess if everything is transparent, there's no harm done, each potential investor is free to decide based on the facts.

Personally I wouldn't knowingly touch anything even slightly Ponzi-ish with a stolen bargepole.

What you're describing has already been done. Rember VBU.

I believe this programs demise was through a lot of bad judgments in program selection and untrustworthy security holders of certain funds or so I was led to to believe.
Although I am sure there were other indicators that were in the boiling pot to assist.

If you can sustain the program 100% from investments, why not start there in the first place? Why do you need a transition period?

The longer you run a ponzi, the greater liability you create, the more people join, and the more people lose. Not a great formula.
