This week it's the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, while in Sydney Town it's CeBIT Australia - or you could be on the other side of the world attending the Gartner Government Conference in Washington DC.
Everyday there are literally scores of major events happening and Datedex www.datedex.com has them all under one roof, presented in tables with headings Who, What, Where, When, Why and Web.
Many conferences and events can be attended virtually, so you could keep track of, say, all the major IT conferences, then attend the webcasts and download the presentations.
In all, there are 14 categories of topics to browse through, while an information rich home page at Datetex has summaries of the main events in most categories, with the dates highlighted in red if it is today, bold if it is tomorrow and grey if the activity or event is in the future.
Each category has a set of links to recommended resources, while there are sections by geography, "awareness" days and months, as well as a "celestial" section. Under awareness days, for example, you learn that Thursday was Nurse's Day in the US while May the 12th is International Nurse's Day.
In the birthdays category you'll find the birth and death dates of politicians and actors etc., while in "country dates" shows national holidays for different countries

This looks like a pretty useful site, even if it`s just to see what events are going on in the sports realm. \
