X-Changers Cease to exchange EVO?!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Salty

Just got the info from e-told newsletter, but I didnt read it on their site.

As changecash stopped doing exchange, so the two EVO official exchangers stopped doing that, how will evo get along?

Posted by: cjx01

For the high fee of stormpay, evocash would be a great one to use instead of sp.But there are still much bad news about it.It is hard to say its prospect now.
It is saft to keep limited amount of money in it.

Salty, I thought this thread was more appropriate for this folder, thanks for bringing this matter to members attention.

I`ve seen several posts relating to the problems between the two Companies, so here`s one post which is supposed to be an email explaining the X-Cha d where the services offered meets
your needs.

Respectfully,

So, no specific reasons provided for the cessation of the working relationship between the two companies. Compare those comments to what`s been reported by e-Told, which clearly puts the FLO situation as the root of the difficulties.
Quote:
X-Changers ceases EvoCash exchanges
FLO Situation MUST be responded to

Since the end of August 2004, the relationship between EvoCash and X-Changers has been pushed to the brink. For over five years EvoCash and X-Changers have had an excellent working arrangement, this has now come to a head due to the freezing of FLO funds.

The announcement was not made public like the time when EvoCash actually froze the FLO funds. The announcement has been quietly made between X-Changers and EvoCash.

The e-Told Reports have learned that the stoppage of out-exchanges commenced on October 13, 2004. At that time any exchanges dealing with either funding or out-exchanging of EvoCash have been returned. X-changers does state that they will continue to offer EvoCash once the funds embroiled in the dispute are returned to where they came from.

The main reason X-changers have gone to this extreme measure is because of the lack of comment coming from EvoCash. X-Changers has had to deal with much of the complaining from customers. Many serious believe that X-changers and EvoCash are associated. The only association between these two entities is business.

While EvoCash continues to hold the funds and makes no announcement as to when, where, or how the funds will be distributed, X-Changers has had to deal with having their personal reputation and credibility destroyed due to the silence of EvoCash is working on this problem.

At the beginning of October, it was announced that the Government of Denmark had shut down CashChange from doing business. With X-changers stopping exchanges from EvoCash, it leaves EvoCash with no main exchanger. There are still many reputable exchangers handling EvoCash. The X-changers move to cease dealing with exchanging EvoCash is considered to be temporary. Once the funds held in FLO accounts are distributed back to where they belong, X-Changers will more than likely return to a normal business relationship.

With no way to do exchanges out people who have assets at EVO will have to let the balance there. Worse than having your account "frozen".

Very interesting since EVO and X-changers are rumorred to be owned by the same group.

Evocash site was under maintenance for at least over 30 hours.

and now:

Error Occurred While Processing Request

Error Diagnostic Information

An error occurred while attempting to establish a connection to the server. The most likely cause of this problem is that the server is not currently running. Verify that the server is running and restart it if necessary. Unix error number 2 occurred: No such file or directory

Now maintenance again...

Posted by: forwardone

I`ve been reading several suggestions that Evocash may not be returning. But of course in HYIP land rumours always abound, so who knows for sure?

As at this moment Evo is still down, with the `Maintenance` message on it`s homepage.

This is a message which appears to be genuine from Evocash which is being posted around the forums.

Quote:

Dear Account Holder,

It is with great deal of sadness and regret that we have to inform you of the closure of Evocash. After nearly five years of trading the owners have reluctantly decided that they cannot carry on running a business that is permanently under attack both financially and physically and by continuing they are just prolonging the inevitable. The reasons for the closure are many and varied but just a few of the main reasons we will list below. In the last two years server and hacking attacks had increased to between 25-40 attacks each day. Although we have managed to deal with most attacks what is becoming unmanageable are the frequent DDoS attacks that are happening to many websites on a daily basis. The last big attack that took Evocash off line for days was so big that it took up all of our lines and even started to affect services in other countries. The daily cost of dealing with hacking and DDoS attacks is way out of proportion to the amount of profits that can be made from this type of business.

Many of our account holders probably know of the problems we have had with a business called Freelandopps during the last few months and this ongoing problem has had a very serious affect on not only Evocash but other exchange businesses that deal with us on a daily basis. There have been so many lies and rumours posted on forums and talked about in chat rooms that even some of our own exchangers have started to attack us and give us problems. This has become so bad that our main exchanger X-Changers has told us that they will no longer service our daily funding and redeems after the 14th October. They have made it clear that the exchange service for Evocash will not resume again until we have reached an amicable agreement with Freelandopps. Any agreement, if in fact one could be reached with Freelandopps, would be months in to the future, there is absolutely no possibility of a quick solution.
The final reasons that made the owners decide to close the business are the problems that exchangers are experiencing on a daily basis. Over the years we have lost track of how many of the exchangers bank accounts have been closed down for no apparent reason and in some cases funds have not even been returned to the exchanger. Within the last two weeks one of our main exchangers CashChange were ordered by their National bank to cease operations immediately and were told they could not operate as an exchanger in Europe. This came almost at the same time that we were informed that Australian exchangers have been advised that they have to apply for a licence to act as an exchanger, which in our opinion will never happen. To add to that we know of two cases where other exchangers have been told they have to produce records of transactions. Evocash does not and never has operated a system that allowed direct funding by an account holder to their Evocash accounts and all account funding must go through an exchanger.
If it is the intention of most governments to close down e-currency exchangers, and we think it probably is because that is the only way they can control the flow of money, then Evocash would not be able to survive without the services of our exchangers.

Payments
All of the existing Evocash accounts and account transactions will have to be thoroughly audited to compile a list of account refunds that need to be issued. This auditing of the whole system is a mammoth task and although we cannot give an exact date for its completion, we will of course endeavour to get this completed as quickly as possible. Once the auditing has been completed Evocash will be sending you a check for your account balance. We are sorry but there will not be any other payment options.

Your contact details
On the application form above we need you to fill the name that is to go on the check and the address it is to be mailed to. This is extremely important because without that we will have to mail the check to the name and address that is listed as your current account information. Please do not use this address panel to send Evocash a message because only contact names and addresses will be dealt with and any message you send will be filtered out.

Contact
During the auditing of all accounts we will not be accepting any emails. We know this will be very frustrating for everyone but if we leave staff answering emails it will not be very productive because they will not be in a position to answer your questions.
All future news and updates will be posted within the account area; please login periodically and check for these updates as this will be your only means of checking progress. Messages that are posted in the account area will be the only official messages that come from Evocash. We would appreciate it if you would ignore anything you read on forums or hear in chat rooms as most of these are people's opinions and usually contain not one grain of truth.

Funding
No further account funding is being accepted and X-Changers have informed us that any funds that they have received after Wednesday 13th October will be returned to the sender. If you have sent funds to any other exchanger then you need to contact them and request a return of the funds.

Redeems/Payment requests
Any redeems that have not been completed by an exchanger will be rejected and sent back to your account and will form part of your refund balance.

Purchase of Evocash
In the last three months Evocash has received four offers to buy the entire Evocash system and take over all of the existing accounts. Although two of these offers had no substance at all the other two do have and were worth considering. The owners are still negotiating with one of the companies at this time. We cannot say at this stage if anything will materialise from these negotiations but please be assured we will keep you up to date with any progress.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this closure may cause to our account holders.

Warning has already start to surface since FLO/Evocash issue. They used a number of delay tactics such us DDOS attack and shortage of e-gold.

I`ve just spotted this message on one Exchanger`s site,

Quote:
Evocash Unavailable!!

Rumours are abound that Evocash has collapsed and that they have run with the money

Now, although the ability to log in has been unavailable all weekend and X-changers have stopped dealing with them, we have no conclusive proof that anything untoward is happening.

There is usually a warning if the Evocash web site is going to be unavailable, but not this time, so we wait with bated breath and will post any news here as soon as we know anything.
It makes it clear that this is only a rumour, but it clearly demonstrates the nervousness there is out there.

As far as Evo running with the money, no one knows that right now except Evo.

With regard to Evo closing their doors for business. The quote in Geoff's post can be seen by logging in to your account. I was able to login my account today and view this message:

It seems that those with less than $6.00 in Evo's will not get a refund. This information was in the FAQ's under the topic Account Status:

Quote:
Your question was:
Account status

The answer is:

If you are trying to login and cannot then it could be for one of the reasons
listed below.

All new accounts that had not been used/funded have been deleted from the
system.
All accounts with a zero balance that have not logged in recently have been
deleted.
Any account with a balance of less than 6.00 will be deleted due to the fact
that the cost of issuing refunds far exceeds this amount.

And I wonder how many accounts with $0-$6 they have?

They swallow them up, and get a bit richer. Rip-off merchants I call them.

Geoff

Posted by: bdriverstyle10

Geoff, I totally agree. If they were still in business and a member
requested a $6.00 check, they would send it.

I'm waiting to see if they actually send checks to those with higher
balances.

Bree

Posted by: golddust

Once they are finished with the "auditing of accounts", I'm wondering if they are going to send audit reports to each account holder, or just disperse account funds without proof of reconciliation. That is IF they really do refund accounts at all. . . Besides that, how many account holders can be accurate and prove their account balances? Audit sounds like a joke to me, possibly to buy run-away-with-the-funds time.
Well, I know I can say with certainty that my account balance was less than approximately $1.00. No worries for me.
golddust

Posted by: forwardone

Although I had an Evocash account along with Intgold I have never used either of them. It was more a case of being prepared if the need ever arose.

Like you, though, golddust, I too believe the `audit` to be a nonsense, perhaps one of those famous red herrings that are thrown around. This fiasco exemplifies the reason why it`s probably never a good idea to keep too much lying around in any e-Currency account.

I'm curious, how many e-currency companies have gone out
off business in the last few years? I'd like to hear from those
who have been using e-currencies for more than 1 1/2 years.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Bree

I guess you have to make the distinction of whether they were "real" ecurrenies but couldn't make it, or scams. And IMHO, there are some that have not gone out of business that are "dodgy" at best.

I've been using egold for over 2 years, been hacked into once, Evocash over 2 years - never a problem, Intgold - same, ebullion, I use very little but many like it a lot. Osgold existed for a few years, but was a scam and took a lot of funds. There are others before my "time" and there are quite a ecurrencies out there but very seldom used, except for those who do off shore banking consistently.

Anybody remember the statement on the Caribe-FX site about having an audit report? Then they said they wouldn't be publishing the audit report because they didn't want the auditors to be bugged, or words to that effect. I thought that was pretty amusing at the time.

Posted by: bdriverstyle10

Thanks Golddust. Gee, it seems making that distinction is difficult at best. If an ecurrency can stay around for five years doing fairly well, and then completely fall apart in 4 months or so one would have to be on the inside to know whether it was a scam or a real ecurrency that failed.

I've been using Paypal for about 5 years, mostly to pay for purchases. The other ecurrencies are much newer for me, and so far no hackings. I've been using e-gold for 1 year, Intgold and e-bullion for about 5 months, and recently opened Firepay, Netpay, & Pecunix because they are used by DxGold for the Exchange Merchant business. I'll just have to do more research on them and hope for the best.

Take care,

Bree

E-gold has worked fine for me for the past couple of years, so has PayPal.

I did at one time use Stormpay but I never really liked their way of doing things and I eventually closed the account. They went through a period of suddenly suspending members` accounts in countries that they deemed `non-approved.`

Hi All,

Once and forever I've learned not to leave to much money on e-currency holders.
I was thinking to much that it was safe there and only hope is that I get a cheque else I've spilled quite a bigger amount of money pity enough.
This things aren't banks...
So never let too much money on an e-currency, next time another one may explode.
