Just recently over in the U.K we seem to be getting a lot of scam warnings from banks and other financial institutions.

The one below is a typical warning. For obvious reasons I have deleted the details of the particular bank in question.

"Fraudulent e-mail security alert
A fraudulent e-mail is currently in circulation asking members to follow a link and confirm their Internet Banking sign-on details. XXXXXXXXX will never send out an e-mail asking you for personal information such as sign-on information.

If you are unsure of an e-mail's origin, never click on any links contained in that e-mail. Visit XXXXXXXX website by typing XXXXXXX into your browser's address bar.

If you have followed the link and are concerned about the security of your account, please telephone our call centre on XXXXXX or from overseas call XXXXXX.

For further information on this type of fraud, please see our FAQs or visit our security centre."

I gather that this happens a lot in other countries, but it is getting very prevalent over here too. Clearly the message is NEVER click on links in emails purporting to come from your bank!
