London Gold Exchange under Massive attack Attempts to blackmail left unanswered The online eCurrency arena has been dealing with Denial of Service [DDoS] attacks on a daily basis, with financial services web sites taking the brunt of the attacks. As with all crimes committed the only reason for a Denial of Service attack would be financial gain. Many financial institutions have had to deal with these attacks because of blackmail and extortion. The simple rule of thumb has been to not give in the blackmail and therefore the reason for attacks. London Gold Exchange Admin, Andi Heron has reported that the site has been under a Denial of Service attack since October 22. Readers were informed in a brief "Heard Thru the Grapevine" announcement. What has been learned over this past weekend is that the host for London Gold Exchange has removed LGE from the server. The host "Max ASP" was left with no other choice as all programs on that server were being affected by the attack on LGE. London Gold Exchange will return on a new server within the next 24-48 hours. The downtime could not be avoided as these attacks leave an Admin helpless. Those who presently have business with LGE should know that email would be delayed in being responded to. Once the site has returned you will be able to contact LGE through their web site or through the following email address customerservice@londongoldexchange.com. The Admin will keep the arena informed as to when the service resumes. |

Glad To Be Back After a week of a hard hitting DDoS* attack, we are happy to be back, at last!! What a week! Firstly we received a blackmail e-mail saying if we did not pay money our site would be destroyed. We didn't and it was! We managed to get it back up again, but it was immediately removed by another DDoS attack. The criminals hit the server so hard it took down the web hosts full network and they got mad and removed our site from their servers. We got mad, because they got mad, as they did not even try to offer a solution. They just saw that we were a victim, but could not/would not help. So we had to move to a new host, one whom could offer more protection. We duly found one and it has taken up to now to get everything in place. We hope that we can now duck and dive these attacks which have become the scourge of the Internet. So many web sites are suffering these attacks at the moment. Thanks for your patience and now let trading begin........ |
