Several media reported Rita's announcement that the body of late legend Bob Marley, buried for more than two decades, is to be exhumed from a Jamaica cemetery in February and reburied in Ethiopia. And Rita Marley indicated the reburial would take place next month on the 60th anniversary of Marley's birth. However, Rita Marley, currently in Ethiopia has denied the reports. Marley is one of the first Jamaican artists to gain worldwide recognition. Born in rural St. Ann's on February 6th, 1945, to a middle-age white father and teenage black mother, Marley left to pursue music in Kingston. Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981. A month before his death, he was awarded Jamaica's "Order of Merit." He is buried in a crypt at Nine Miles, near his birthplace. Enditem |
