Busted, one of the biggest British guitar boy bands for the past three years announced yesterday that they are splitting up after lead singer Charlie Simpson decided to leave to join another group. “I'm incredibly proud of everything that we've achieved in Busted” Simpson said. He continued, “ We've enjoyed some of the best times in our lives together. I wouldn't change one single bit of it. This has been a really difficult decision and I hope the fans will understand”. The group won Best Pop Act and Best Breakthrough Act at the 2004 BRIT Awards, after achieving four number one hits and eight top three hits in the UK. Matt Willis one of the band members said “It's a really sad day for all of us but we've always said that if one member left we'd call it a day”. While James Bourne said “I would like to say a personal thank you to all the fans who have made the last 3 years the best years of my life. I'll remember these years forever. With young girls all over the UK in tears after the news of the split will this pave the way for McFly to take over as the number one boy band this yearin 2005 or will the Busted loyal fans follow Charlie Simpson in his new venture only time will tell, at the moment it will be hard for many of the bands fans to comprehend the choice of Simpson, to leave one group and join another. The new group to be joined by Charlie Simpson is called Fightstar, and the choice to leave Busted must have been planned for some time as Fightstar already have a new single, set to be released on 28th February, the songs is named "They Liked You Better When You Were Dead". Fightstar also have numerous gigs arranged so Simpsons new challenge seems to have been going on behind the scenes for a while. |
