More tickets for a Live Aid-style concert to raise funds for the Asian tsunami relief effort were going on sale today. All 60,000 tickets originally released for the event at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Saturday were snapped up within three days. Today organisers said they were releasing 1,000 more tickets from 1.30pm. They had been waiting for the venue’s stage to be constructed before deciding if there were any more seats with good views. Last week they hit out at “cynical touts” who were selling tickets on the eBay internet auction site at a five-fold mark-up. They urged fans to boycott the touts and wait until more tickets were put on sale. The seven-hour concert is set to feature artists including Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, the Manic Street Preachers, Feeder, Badly Drawn Boy, Lemar, Lulu and Charlotte Church. A spokeswoman for the Millennium Stadium said today that more acts were still expected to be announced. Concert backers are hoping the event will raise £1 million for the disaster relief fund. |
