10 Quick Questions with "friendly" (Robyn)
WL: How long have you been involved in HYIPs and MLMs for?
MLMs probably getting close to 12 months; had a brief affair with HYIPs about 6 months ago. But me being very fickle in nature, that affair only lasted around 3 months.
WL: Do you currently make a living entirely from investing in HYIPs and MLMs?
Hardly! And funnily enough - I don't plan to either
WL: Your personal top 5 HYIPs and top 5 MLMs
Oh dear, hear comes the tricky part. Personally, I have not spent a single dollar in any HYIP since the collapse of the NL group a few months back. I think that really decided it for me that HYIPs are not the thing for me. I have a bit too much of a gambling streak in me and could be known to not "play it safe" so I tend to just stay away from them.
As for MLMs - one of the very few I did join when I first started was MPAM http://10000hits.net/default.aspx?userid=457680 and back then I would have been hard pressed to even know what a traffic exchange was. But this free and paid program is still going strong after many years and is probably one I would recommend as being the most honest.
Two others that are honest and genuine programs are:
Group Marketing Solutions (GMS):

WL: How many hours do you spend at the computer per week?
Oh boy! I don't know. How many hours are there in a week again? Put it this way, I never go to bed before about 3am because I'm on the computer, so I just know it's too many. Which actually reminds me of a conversation I was having with a friend (on msn of course), which went something like this at 3 in the morning...
Her: "shouldn't you be in bed?"
Me: "yes I really should be, but I got distracted browsing for things"
Her: "go to bed, it will all still be there tomorrow"
Me: "this IS the Internet, you never know, it might ALL BE GONE! And then I would miss out on something!"
WL: What is your previous work experience and current occupation?
Current occupation: the official term I believe is "homemaker", but I'm really not that at all. I hate cooking dinner, I hate shopping, I hate bath-time with my two toddlers, I hate having to drive my teenager to soccer 3 times a week - but I do MAKE things at HOME (mainly websites though)Does that still qualify me as a homemaker?
Previous experience: lots of technical computer stuff - technical writer, q&a, bug-checker and other stuff for a software development company; before that mainly involved in computer applications training for adults, computer help-desk support - all those fun things where you get to talk a lot!
WL: What is your favourite leisure activity, sport and holiday destination?
Sport: LOVE playing cricket, bored watching it.
Leisure: um, what's that again?
Holiday: hmm, does walking to the dam at the bottom of our paddock count as a holiday? No? Well, I guess driving up to the country to stay on the farm with my sister is my favourite holiday destination.
WL: What is your favourite food, drink, best movie of all time and what type of music do you like to listen to?
Food: junk-food, all kinds
Drink: coffee (lots of it)
Movie: I'm pretty keen on the Matrix series at the moment, but I can't go past a good comedy and the original Flying High series and the old Monty Python's I can watch over and over and over.
Music: Nearly everything (except jazz - I hate jazz). Meatloaf, Celine Dion, Guns 'n' Roses, Jewel, Nirvana, Country & Western... pretty easy to please in the music department.
WL: What are your favourite 5 web sites and why?
Hmmm. I guess the one I spend the most time at is actually Google. I'm forever searching for stuff (like answers to Phil's trivia questions).
For satire and education rolled into one: http://www.dack.com/web/bullshit.html
(very handy for writing that corporate report that's due next week!)
I also seem to frequent NetBank (my bank's online banking) and PayPal a bit more than I'd care to.
That's 4.
http://Dnsstuff.com - a great resource for checking on IP addresses and tracking sites and things.
Might as well add in the Web Developer Forums
http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/index.php I don't go there that often, but they are always there when I need them. Also, they have some very, very talented programmers in there!
WL: Robyn's plans for the future?
I don't even know my plans for tomorrow yet! Seriously!
I do know that I would like to earn a nice regular income above and beyond what my government pays me to stay home with the kids (single parent pension) and for the next 2 or 3 years, I'll basically be "stuck at home" so I'll have to earn my income from home as well. So I'll probably just keep going with what I'm doing - web site and graphic design and hosting, and a couple of little projects on the side (like HYIPSafelist and Mal's Multiplier!).
WL: Any tips for making money on the Web?
Yep! Get a product. I believe the best way to make long-term residual income on the 'net is to sell something tangible. Myself - I mainly sell hosting (storage space, etc.) and design work (web sites, graphics, banners - that type of thing). I also occasionally resell scripts, ebooks and other online products.
People make money from products, either through affiliate commissions in selling other people's products or by selling their own. And as long as the product does what it says and it's not an outright phony - there's no guilt feeling of enticing people into a trap or recruiting just for the sake of recruiting - the person you recruit is actually paying money for something they need or want and would probably have paid for whether you sold it to them or someone else.
WL: Some interesting thoughts and ideas Robyn. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and giving Web Life members a better insight into "friendly"

Hey, Robyn! Thanks for sharing a bit of your "very full life" with us. It's nice to get to know Friendly a little better!
(I'll bet you have some great computer help-desk stories you could share in the Jokes Folder!)
