Use Of Tunnelers Debate

The use of metropipes in forums- controversial, or not worth discussing? Should their use be banned? Saw part of a post elsewhere made by a member who`s involved in Web design and suchlike, and here`s his views:-

Quote:
I just did a more indepth search of the metropipe IP's There are now 180 users of the metropipe tunneller on TG.

It allows people to easily have alter-ego's, on one hand being a well known poster, and on the other hand running some ponzi scam, quite safe in the knowledge that we could never find out because they have the same IP as 180 other users on this forum.

I do know that this is a subject that`s arisen in other forums in the recent past.

It truly is amazing that so many users actually use a tunneller, rationalizing it by saying that Xavier told them it was safer. If Xavier lied, ran off and stole your money, what makes you think that he was telling the truth about the internet being dangerous without using a tunnelling service?

I often wonder how much referral commission he was paid by Metropipe to create such a hype over their service.

As for forums, I see no need in banning Metropipe unless things get out of hand.

I use the tunneler and will continue to use the tunneler except on sites that will not allow it. If Metropipe is banned, then forum admins are going to have to hustle to figure out whoever else is on a proxy server. I really don't know if the IP addys of proxy servers change. Does anyone else happen to know?

A single proxy server's address does not change, however I hear that it is very easy to pick a proxy server from lists of hundreds on free sites.

Is there currently a site or forum that bans members who use tunnelers?

I've been planning to subscribe to Metropipe's Tunneler before for security purposes and I'm still deciding whether to go on or not. But if Web-Life, for example, or other forum would start banning the use of it, then I think subscribing to them won't be a good idea. Anyway, I'm learning a lot from this thread so just keep on posting guys.

The debate started in another forum some months ago, then I recently saw it start up again at TG.

At present WL has no plans to ban their use, but where security of the general membership is involved it`s something that is an option in the future, only if there is a real necessity.

I don`t know of any forum that bans the use of tunnelers at this time.
