I found this post on the TG forum and thought it would be of interest.

To PicPay Members:

VAT has been working with PicPay in developing an online payment system for its members. At this time, we do not have a timetable as to when this new system will be available. For more information, VAT suggests that you contact PicPay Customer Service.

Answers To Your Questions.

Q - Why has VAT disabled SpeedyWallet and PicPay Debit Card accounts?

A – There is a cost to VAT to service the SpeedyWallet and PicPay Debit Cards. This cost is recouped by charging PicPay members a monthly service fee. The majority of PicPay members do not have a positive balance on their accounts. VAT could no longer afford to subsidize the cost of managing these programs.

Q – I still have money on my SpeedyWallet account. How do I remove my money?

A - If your SpeedyWallet account has a positive balance, so will your PicPay Debit Card (they work together). VAT has not terminated (disabled) PicPay cards with a positive balance. You may go to a ‘PLUS’ ATM to remove any funds that you may have.

Q – Will I be able to reactivate my SpeedyWallet account so that I can receive money from PicPay?

A – No! Your current SpeedyWallet account is closed and will never be available to you again. When the new PicPay SpeedyWallet platform is ready, you will be able to open a New PicPay SpeedyWallet account.

Q – What is the status of my new and/or old PicPay Debit Card?

A – VAT has closed all PicPay Debit Cards that did not have a positive balance on them. For those members that have maintained a positive balance, your PicPay Debit Cards will remain active for another two weeks. At that time, VAT will be closing your accounts too. VAT suggests that if you have a positive balance on your PicPay Debit Card that you immediately withdraw those funds from your card at any ‘PLUS’ ATM.

Q – The PicPay message on the VAT website is gone. Why?

A – VAT is a small company. We cannot manage the tremendous number of telephone and email inquiries that we have been receiving from PicPay Members. To eliminate this issue for VAT, VAT has agreed that all future announcements will come from PicPay.

Q – When will the New PicPay SpeedyWallet system be ready?

A – VAT cannot tell you the timetable. Please contact PicPay for the answer to this question.

Q- If I contact VAT directly will I be able to get more answers?

A – NO! VAT does not have any additional information. All questions or concerns should be directed to PicPay.

Thank you,

The VAT Management Team

I think SpeedyWallet got sick of fielding too many questions from interested parties.

Ya know, being a new PIPS accountholder and not even having a Picpay account yet, I'm not familiar with all the in's and out's yet, but if there were a cost for a card, you'd THINK people would keep the appropriate amount in there to cover it!

And then again, considering Picpay delays, who wants to pay a monthly fee when they can't get funds to a card?

Basically that is what it is all about, most people left three or four months of fees etc. in there but with the lengthy delays that is getting eaten up as well. At this point I'm just going to sit back and see what develps. I don't want to get agina over any of this.

I'd say that's a good strategy, laying back! That's what I plan to do. It's not like I've been dealing with it for months, anyway. So I guess I'm 'lucky.' If and when it pays, I'm going to consider it a bonanza. :-)
