Seems like July this years is about 10 times as active in terms of new programs, and people investing into hyips. I remember the last 2 july's as well as august's were absolutely dead.
Whats the reason? Any specualtion?

Interesting question, Ed. I may be completely wrong on this, but I suspect that there are so many new programs opening due to a couple of reasons.
1. It seems to me that picking up an `off-the-shelf` script nowadays is so cheap and easy, so there are fewer obstacles to starting up an HYIP, with relatively small money involved.
2. Linked to the above, scammers are virtually guaranteed to make some money out of their scams before they cut and run. They know that there`s always someone who`ll throw money at their program (and sometimes the more ridiculous the rates are the more tempting for some to join).
3. Oh, and how about this one - Scammers aren`t always new to the game, so I reckon that some have been around for a long time now, and simply jump from one to another, therefore more HYIP`s are being launched.
As far as the numbers of punters are involved, it`s down to the age old `greed for money` with some, a game to others, and a way to make money legitimately in the minds of others. When bank interest rates are currently so low in many parts of the world people want to make their cash work harder for them.

I think that this is the main cause of it. It really is awful to see how the hyip arena has fallen to new lows with so many hyips opening each day. Infact, I don't think we can even call most of them hyips.

Well July seemed to go out with more of a whimper than a bang I`d say, much of it due to the number of programs which collapsed towards the end of the month.
