Just an interesting topic. What do you guys think about the whole stem cell research debate? Do you think it is immoral or think it should be researched and used for future medical techniques.
Personally I believe that scientists should be researching this area more. Stem cell research will most likely one day cure one of the worse diseases known to man. Altzeimers disease. It will also be able to produce human organs without having to worry about a transplant.
What are you opinions on this?

It should still be researched very carefully, the potential of it being harmful to humanity and being useful are both massive...
Look at nuclear... I still don't believe that I would wish it have never been researched...

Stem cell research has proven applications now even in infancy and IMO, must be continued as the evolution of mankind and mankinds' maladies, afflictions, susceptibilities and immunities continue to mutate. Having said that, controlled research is needed, and in the wrong hands, could pose threats as the 'technology' develops. As it is right now, the benefits far exceed the risks. I believe future benefits will develop, but so could risks, if those intent on mutant development have covert research facilities. This undoubtedly will be possible.
In comparision to nuclear, the benefits of nuclear medicine, energy, and other technology developments have been enormous and provide options for sustainance for the planet, and well as mass destruction.
Right or wrong, good or evil, black or white... it is the continum of life that brings balance.
OM.

Yup, technology is just tools, it's human that uses it for good or evil, the technology should be researched.

Personally, I think that the doctors and researchers are doing everything wrong. Even if it was the way they were taught.
Ever since the beginning, researchers have been working on finding drugs which can cure diseases. However all of these drugs have side effects.
What I feel they actually should be researching is methods to prevent diseases. That way, no one would have to fill their bodies with dangerous (not to mention highly overpriced) drugs.
It is easier to prevent, than to treat and medicate.

They have done that somewhat though, including genetic modifications to virus carriers and so on.
But true.

Research/developing drugs is far more profitable than developing the actual cure... just ask the FDA.
Also true.
