What is the BEST e-currency card available?

I believe the following cards are available -

Sorry about that Manos64, it took me 3 days to find the URL. They have been doing stacks of advertising on all the forums. The URL is -

http://www.primaverkauf.tv/

BUT I just noticed that the URL has .tv in it #-o which is normally a clear sign to STAY AWAY. Maybe JB or memorex have some thoughts on them

Their site looks professional enough, and if I had enough money in my e-gold account to warrant buying another debit card (which I don't, thanks to Praycunia Club) I would certainly try it.

You don't need to worry about the domain name, .tv (Tuvalu) is an ISO country domain just like like any other, with a fee like any other (I believe the cost to register is quite significant, due to the demand from television-related websites ). The one you need to be very careful is .tk (Tokelau) since these are the "free" domain names that half the HYIP scams around use.

The best so far that I tested and also the cheapiest is the following.

https://vupay.com/in/?6084

It's more like a portal of funding a ATM card with almost all e-currencies including paypal.

And the ATM card is free, only 5$ postage fee.

Phil,

had the same reply when I inquired as to their business location.

It seems to be this is the same source as Xcard's card , V-gold's card and Cashcards?

i.e. -- First National Bank Of Central Texas ?

And, they also handle the Globalonecard. I do believe they're out to corner the market. Side note - If you're looking, they are NOT 'offshore' from the US.

Hi Mario,

How long have you used the above card? And do you trust them with substantial amounts?

Have also heard that X-Changers is working on a new card, should have more info in the next 10 days or so.

Jeff, heard about that too on the private board.

Did X-changers send an email update on this?

If they did, I didn't receive any 8-[

No, I haven't received anything on it yet... Figure I'll check it out directly at x-changers when it shows up there...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just looked at vupay and fired off 2 questions - the first not properly answered until I pressed again (i.e. how long to fund the card from e-gold) the second "Which bank issues the card?"

Reply: I have no idea, we do not make the cards and we do not manage on money on them, we send money to the card management company.

I reminded them that it is printed on the back of the card
Reply: Yes it is writen, just can't read it as it is smashed by the embossed numbers...

If that doesn't ring warning bells - what does???

It seems to me from my own experience and reading the posts that this bank is taking on more than it can handle. In my opinion their network is overloaded. I frequently cannot log in to the INGold site about 0800 - 1000 GMT because of 'demands on the network'.

I had a similar problem when trying to draw cash last Friday - they were unable to service my request due to excessive demand (this has been known to happen rarely with my own domestic bank).

It is quite usual for companies to underestimate traffic loading when setting up a new (or even reviewing an existing) network. In the UK, Nectar and National Lottery are recent prime examples.

Having been on a Network Design course I'm thankful that I never had to do it - I could cope with the theory OK, but trying to keep up with the everchanging equipment and specifications, and estimating demand I found overwhelming to say the least. Any design is likely to be out of date before the ink is dry on your initial report.

Incidentally, I started computing when Bill Gates was a very precocious 12 year old (I doubt he'd outworn his 1st Anorak!) - and I'm still learning.

:-k

Considering the difficulty in finding functional, inexpensive ATM/debit cards with the MasterCard and/or Visa logo, I've decided to offer a new service.

As I'm in New York City, I can pick up a pre-paid MasterCard "reference card" for at least two popular pharmacies. The debit card's virtual account becomes fully functional for online purchases within one business day, provided I:

1) Go online to a specific website, read the Cardholder's Agreement, and fill out a form with the activation # on the "reference card", along with a name, mailing address and email.

2) Make a toll free phone call, and repeat the same information to the operator, who will then give me the debit card's 16 digit #, the 3 # check digits, PIN, and expiration date.

While the physical MasterCard branded ATM/debit card will take 5 to 10 business days to arrive to the mailing address I specified, the debit card account can be used online to make purchases.

The debit card account can also be reloaded and any branch of the pharmacies that I got the "reference card" from. This also applies for the physical MasterCard branded ATM/debit card.

Interested? Please PM me, and I'll give you a reasonable price for getting the card on your behalf, and mailing it to your location after it arrives in your name.

I will also give you ideas on how to use Omnipay to fund the debit card with E-Gold.

You should take a look at the card that X-Changers is now advertising. www.ptshamrock.com

I did look at that, with my tongue hanging out of my mouth. LOL

=P~ Just a little pricey, IMHO, but not if you're dealing in large dollars at this point. As for me, I'm still "working on that."

Since they're limited in number, I expect they'll be out before I'm ready. Hopefully, something else will come on the horizon.

There's a part of me, however, that doesn't want to get "found" with an anonymous debit card by our good old Infernal Revenooers here in the US of A and they become not so anonymous. Some think it may be better just to get a "straight up" card and deal with the issues. I don't know.

But the card does look good!

Terri

betrdanevr,

I'd rather have a private debit card, or stored value ATM card bearing the MasterCard or Visa logo, and be fully aware of the circumstances that would result in my details being made available to a third party, than an anonymous ATM card, if only for the reason of customer support.

If you don't know the issuers, and they don't know you, I'm not sure how well they'll be able to help you if there's a mishap regarding the card.

Very good point, Doro! (And one that hits home here, because my teenage son lost his debit card a couple of weeks ago and we had to jump through a hoop or two to get it cancelled and replaced.)

NICE looking web site, BTW! Congrats! O

Terri,

Thanks...I've been looking at different ways to combine useful programming with a cool looking user interface for my web development clients.

Every so often, sometimes I'm so impressed with the work me and my partners put into a client's website, that I start thinking about updating my own....
