Hi everyone
This forum is a very relaxed non-censored enviroment and you can post whatever you want about HYIPs and things related to HYIPs
However one thing that will not be accepted is pesonal attacks against anyone, whoever
The reason for this is -
1. It is not productive
2. It is not of benifit to hphyips members
3. Reduces threads into a slinging match
4. Reduces the quality of this forum
Post what you want about HYIPs but please stick to the facts or your opinions and ideas about a particular program, product or service

Thanks for the reminder, I'll do what I can to help!

Why would anyone want to personally attack another, I can't imagine. This forum should be for constructive messages only.
We need to start a serious thread about computer security.
Be happy, O

A good idea would be to use PGP or GPG for secure communications

Would it be worth it to see if, together, we can put together a CLEAR, CONCISE 'guide' to computer security? I've been thinking on that a while, and I think some would find it useful. I might be able to contribute a little. However, usually my writings tend to stray after a while. I THINK it could be done in an easily understandable couple of pages (but only if I don't write them, lol).
Anybody think it might be worth a try? I'm thinking something along the lines of an 'open source document', where people can modify it as needed. I haven't been keeping up on that type of thing, but would it be worth a try?
Hope nobody minds if I start playing with it here a little...
Might this work
------------------------------------------------------------
-Why security is important (especially if you're working with finances on your computer)
-How to keep your computer safe from Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Keyloggers (anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc)
-Firewall - do I need one? Why? (File/printer sharing, port openings, etc)
-common sense things (Not answering fake emails, protecting passwords, etc)
-----------------------------------------------------
Feel free to let me know if this makes sense to anyone, and I THINK it might really be helpful to some. There are a LOT of questions and misconceptions out there, and maybe we can, together, put together a SHORT document to help.
I don't want to put together a 50 page dissertation, just a short, quick, reference guide, possibly? References to more information could easily be included for those who want more.
I KNOW there is a LOT of expertise on this kind of stuff from the people here. I know a little, but my knowledge is fairly dated.
Any thoughts/opinions/writings welcomed!
Jeff
(HPHYIPS, I hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here, but I've seen many requests for this kind of information all over, and was thinking that maybe something like this could be useful.)

Jeff (awty),
This is a great idea and one that was planned to be a thread in the tech support forum.
I am starting a thread there (with a copy of your post) and others can post contributions to it. I will endevour to build up a security document as the first post in a specific thread and then as people add to it, I will edit the new info into the first post. As you say it should be only the equivalent of 1-2 pages with links to other sites/threads where the subject deems more explaination (eg firewalls). Sadly I am tied up a little my end for a week or 2.
So yes I am happy to do the document, and will gladly accept contrabutions.

I, in particular, appreciate this suggestion. Jeff (awty+awty) and I have exchanged concerns about this matter in another forum.
I have only one request:
Please try to be kind to civilians (you know, us guys who dread techno talk). We all have varying degrees of expertise. Unfortunately I fall into the "Minimal Expertise" category.
Thank you.
