What is a Dropshipper ?
Using a Dropshipper is the best way a retailer can sell goods to their customers without personally holding any stock. The retailer will instead, pass the customers's order and shipping details to the Wholesale company. The Wholesale company will then dispatch the goods to the customer directly. The retailer will then make their profit from the difference between the Wholesale and retail price.
A retailer that uses a catalogue or a website may use the Drop Ship method to provide goods to their customers...
The Drop Ship method or Dropshipper method may help the retailer to reduce their business overheads.
Let's look at a Dropshipper example...
A retailer selling books would usually sell only single copies of any particluar book on a daily basis. If a company decided to purchase let's say 30 copies of the same book from the retailer, possibly as training material for their employees, the order would be better fulfilled using the Drop Ship method, rather than hold the stock in the store.
The book retailer would arrange with the Wholesale Company to have the books shipped directly to the company.
Many e-Bay Powersellers use the Drop Ship method to provide bidders with goods. The goods would be shipped to the customer once the auction had been won, but, directly from the Wholesaler and not the e-Bay Powerseller...
