Quiz 110

Clue 5

I am the fastest growing mountain on the Earth

Posted by: golddust

Would it be the "mountain" of garbage, at Kumar Base, the by-products of the border conflict? High in the Karakoram, the stubborn armies of India and Pakistan have faced off for 19 years on the Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battleground and a flash point in the deadly dispute over Kashmir. The camp is a cluster of 20 fiberglass huts and tents shared by some 35 officers, enlisted men, and porters. Perched on the crest of a massive, scabrous pile of reddish-brown rubble roughly 60 feet high and 900 feet long, it has the same features as the surrounding mountains - cols, ridges, arêtes - with one significant difference: It's made of garbage.

This is very interesting info, Golddust But not the answer

Nanga Parbat

Posted by: clifton

Yahooo, we have a winner! Old Cat you seem to do well in my quizes, congratulations!

Nanga Parbat ("The Naked Mountain", known also as "The Killer Mountain" because of taking many climber's lifes) is the fastest growing mountain on Earth and still growing. It is located in a disputed territory between India and Pakistan.

(Sherpas, who are not native to the region but who sometimes accompany expeditions to the mountain, are said to call it “The Maneater” or "The Mountain of the Devil".) Nanga Parbat is one of the most deadly of the Eight-thousanders. It is also an immense, dramatic peak, with great local relief.
