What antivirus/firewall are you using?

I use AVG + ZoneAlarm, both are free.
Also Ad-Aware spyware remover and HiJackThis!

Trouble is I believe that you often get what you pay for with ant-virus stuff. I did have Zonealarm at one time but when I took out the full Norton package that included a firewall.

I also use a paid version of Spyware Doctor to try to keep as much out as possible.

My firewall is Northon 2005 by Symantek. I trust it, but it was difficult to study it.
My antivirus software is kaspersky 6.0 personal pro.

I do not use firewalls, and my antivirus is NOD 32. I also tried panda, but it is too slow and sometimes gets crazy. You need to restart your PC frequently.
Kasprsky is a good one, but too slow and loads your RAM a lot.

I use Kaspersky. panda is awful. NOD32 is good but I don't like the interface. Never heard about Avast. I thought, there is the browser Avast, isn't it?
Firewall: I don't understand how can I use it... I think it's a good idea to learn, but I really cannot understan how does it work.

Northon Antivirus is the slowest I tried. But I always use a licensed safety software and it is the cheapest one.

Kaspersky Internet Security, KIS (not Kaspersky Antivirus, KAV) works as an antivirus and a firewall. I use it, but sometimes it seems that it slows down my traffic.

I use F-Secure software on my personal computer. I pay 58 Kc (about $2.7] monthly. The product includes antivirus, antispyware, firewall, IDS (Intrusion Detection System), dial-up control.

What is the difference between Antiviruses, anti-spy and anti-trojans? I thought they are all the parts of anivirus software.
I think any antivirus is able to find and delete spywares and trojans, isn't it?

No, they are very different things with different goals. Rather than me trying to explain it, it`s probably best to take a look at one of the sites offering the various `antis` where you`ll be able to read up about what they do.

Norton for instance offer separate components, or a package deal which I have, as well as other ones I use from time to time to make doubly sure I get rid of spyware and trojans.

I use Outpost firewall with Kaspersky amtivirus. I used to try Norton Personal firewall but i really hate it. Too many incorrects and even bugs, IMHO.

I understood about the difference between the software, but it seems that a good antivirus contains antispy and anti-trojan functions. Correct?

This would be true if you use something like Norton. It is also good to use some of the online free software that scan just for certain things.

http://www.trendmicro.com - has a good suite of products, and a free scan called "HOUSECALL" which I use quite often.

"FREE on-demand service scans your PC for viruses, spyware, and more.
Trend Micro™ HouseCall™ is a FREE Web-based solution designed to scan your PC for a wide range of Internet security threats including viruses, worms, Trojans, and spyware. It also detects system vulnerabilities and provides a link so you can easily download missing security patches. After each scan, HouseCall delivers a detailed report, which identifies security threats detected on your computer."

I use Mcafee and am quite satisfied with it. I am using spyware doctor to keep my PC clearn of spywares. OH yes and Webroot's firewall too.

Spyware Doctor is good, but erm Mcaffe's quality has gone down drastically.
A couple of good sites to check how good ur security software is :
www.virus.gr
www.adwarereport.com/

Posted by: golddust

Also this is a free one - ASquared -(there is a free version)
*Remove Trojans, Worms, Keyloggers, Dialer and Spyware/Adware from your PC!
* Double realtime protection with signature scan and Malware-IDS (HIPS).
Also against Rootkits!
* Extra: a-squared HiJackFree 2.1 system analysis tool included!

I use Avast in the office and AVG (free edition) at home, but when the softwares goes down I use free online scanning sites like Infected Or Not, Bit Defender, etc.

Welcome to Web-Life George Green. Using a combination of free online scanning sites is always a good way to compare what program is the most effective too.

Hello friend i'm using Kaspersky..i think it is a best antivirus to make your pc free from all the worms and viruses and also it protects your pc from internet viruses and don't allow them to enter into your computer so you must have to try that,,then you can found it more reliable to use with great features..
