Last week, the nominees for the annual Webby Awards were scheduled to be posted at www.webbyawards.com This should provide an opportunity for you to put your finger on the pulse of the web and see which sites are in the running for a "Webby" later this year.

In its eighth year now, the Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Last June, a panel of judges announced winners in over 30 site catagories ranging from "activism" to "weird" in a ceremony that was conducted online.

Apart from being able to see who the contenders are to win a 2004 award, a visit to www.webbyawards.com should also enable you to vote in the "people's choice" category.

You can also review a list of the winners of last year's competition, some of these being well know web heavyweights such as Amazon, Pay Pay and Google, while others are lesser know but still interesting, entertaining or helpful pockets of good resources.

Browsing the award winners can often be a good lunching pad to experience the serendipity of the web and you can use the Webby Awards site as a launch pad to visit well designed and content rich sites you might otherwise never have known about.

Who knows, maybe one of your favourite web sites has been nominated as a contender for the people's choice award and your vote could count.

Is that the correct URL, Phil?

Ah yes! I clicked on your 2nd link, which is missing the `r` in awards. :-#

The 1st link is fine, and it seems a very interesting site for what`s considered the `best` sites on the net.

Cool, Phil! I love to hear about new things on the net like that. Makes lots of sense there are Webby Awards. Gotta love it.

Even found a George W. Bush doll in one of the award winning sites.
