Default TGT Closing Down!

Quote:
Date Issued: Thursday Aug 4th, 2005.
Time Issued: 11:00am EST Subject: TopGun Traffic Needs To Close Its Doors

Dear Valued Member,

We are sure that this announcement will come as an extreme shock to most members, as it does to all of us here at TGT ourselves. Simply put, TGT is not going to be able to maintain viability for any extended length of time. We have seen how memberships react to various changes made to benefit/assist a program, and the effects those reactions have on the ongoing viability. TGT would need drastic changes put in place, which would completely change the layout of the program as a whole. We know this will not be acceptable to 95% of the membership, nor is it fair to expect members to sit back and accept such drastic changes. TopGun Traffic was started with the best of intentions, and to assist the PIN Network. Looking back now, it was not the best decision for us to have made for a number of reasons:

* The net is now completely saturated with autosurfs that are popping up on a daily basis, spreading around available funds, and inadvertently damaging each other.
* Normally, all programs experience a complete slowdown of activity during the summer months. TGT was certainly not exempt from this norm.
* We are starting to see "quirky" happenings in people's accounts. Missing credits, missing commissions, and in some cases, completely lost days. No member should be willing to accept those issues, and as a result, corrections have been exhausting our support resources.
* The above mentioned obviously put a huge stress on our support team. While some of you may feel it would be simple enough to hire more staff, one needs to realize that additional staff opens up the possibility of error, database damage/theft, and of course a paycheck. The staff we have now we trust 100%, and at no point was adding someone unknown ever a consideration.
* The server and script 'quirkiness' opened a whole new can of worms. It was becoming obvious over the past 30 days that our script needed to be either drastically altered, or a new one written custom for us. The resulting potential downtime, upwards of a few weeks, again is not acceptable.
* It became clear that the decision to purchase additional servers, and create a cluster, would be a band-aid solution. The script itself was causing 75% of the server issues. While additional servers would increase surf speed, they would not eliminate the specific account errors that had begun multiplying daily over the past 2 weeks.
* Our ad revenue plummeted, due to no fault of TGT, but this loss of revenue obviously affects the bottom line.
* Numerous other issues, that only serve to compound things in the big picture.

Once our withdrawal link was made available on the 1st, it became clear that while we could meet the requests for this month, that we potentially would not be able to do so next month. A decision needed to be made. We could have continued as if nothing wrong, but didnt feel that was 100% fair for us to do so. While it may seem to most that it is simply enough to make an announcement at any point during the month that says "Warning, program potentially in crisis", it is not. As we stated above, withdrawals could be processed 100% on the 7th, but that would potentially leave a large portion of our membership out in the cold come next month. Granted, upgrades and ad revenue could increase as we approach the end of the summer, but holding our breath was not a option we were willing to do on behalf of all of you. It makes much more sense for us to close our doors now, before the potential out of pocket losses for many of you become too high. Therefore, effective immediately, the Upgrade function will be deactivated. TGT will remain a free autosurf until we have completed an audit of the upgraded accounts. This will be completed as soon as possible - we anticipate 1 week. Each upgraded member will receive an emailed report of their actual cash upgrades, cash withdrawals, and either total profit earned to date or out of pocket to date. This will be accompanied by a payment, relative to our existing currency account balances, to the e-currency account listed in your profile. We also will be doing the following immediately:

* All upgrades made from Aug 1st to the time of upgrade deactivation, will be refunded in full within 24-48 hours.
* All members who correctly created a second spousal account, on or after July 18th, will have their account balance refunded in full within 24-48 hours as well. This is due to the fact that the 2nd accounts would not have been created if not for our July 18th announcement.

We understand that people are going to need to vent. When doing so, please keep in mind that this decision was made in the best interests of all TGT members, not just a select few. It was also made with an extreme heavy heart. For those of you that have been with us over the past year, you know we do not make rash or flip decisions, without carefully considering the long term consequences. We know this decision today is going to effectively stomp the reputations of both Jane and I, but we would rather have this happen, than have any potential new members left in the cold next month, knowing these members most likely wont get paid. That makes us no better than scammers. This decision was also made by Jane and I only. Please do not vent directly on Debra, Barb, Doris, or Kelli(Yippee). These are 4 wonderful ladies, who have supported us and you, 100%, and were not part of this decision making process. The Flight Lounge will of course remain open, but the existing rules of civility will remain. We also have a number of members who purchased TGT splash pages over the past few weeks. If you wish to have those pages edited to advertise an alternate program, we will certainly make those edits for you, at no charge. If you have no other program you wish to use, we will of course refund. Please email us at orders@thepinstore.net with your decision and approximate original purchase date. The above will also apply to those of you who have purchased Members Area banner ads over the past 3 days. The members area will remain open, so the placement of your ad can still be fulfilled. However, if you wish to move your ad to another network page, or would prefer a full refund, please email us as well, with your order details. We have also spoken with external companies indirectly affected by this decision (eg Intgold, server company, etc), to inform them of what we are doing and why. We have tried to be as fair as possible in all circumstances. Please give us some space to now complete the closure as swiftly, and as smoothly as possible.

Sad as this news may be to TGT members I applaud the fact that the Admin has been decisive in reaching a decision which will ultimately be of greater benefit to members in the lomg run than allowing the program to limp on.

Perhaps there are a few other Admins out there who could learn from this and know when it`s time to call it a day on their programs and put members out of their misery.

Something is better than nothing at least you were able to recover something.

I was brought back to "even" with a $4.50 refund a couple days ago.

You guys must have gone in heavier than I did.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get a refund that brought you back to even. Obviously easier to get those at my level ($50) back to break-even point.

I received a small refund but I believe they stole our money to try to revive their PIN "doubler".....
